Birthday weekend

We had a busy, fun-filled weekend! Friday, we got a second opinion from a fertility doctor, and he had much better news for us. He said that since we have undiagnosed infertility, that he doesn't see why we shouldn't start with insemination instead of in-vitro. That was music to our ears considering insemination will only cost $1500-$2000/month, compared to in-vitro which will cost $11,000/month. So, we can start with the IUI (insemination) right away. He says if it's going to work, it usually will within the first 4-6 times of trying. We'll probably reassess after the 2nd or 3rd if it hasn't worked by then. Pray for us!
Friday night, we went out to dinner with our friends, Rachel and Brady, to Chili's. Then we came back here and watched Benchwarmers. It was pretty funny, but I fell asleep before it was over... Then Saturday night we went out for sushi with Mike and Nicole at a place called Mikado (there's a picture of us above.) Sushi is now one of our favorite foods! Then we came back to our house and played Friends Trivia. I was impressed that our husbands beat us.
Today, Doug's parents had me over for a birthday dinner. They got me some Shade brand shirts, they're longer shirts that I love. Cassidy got us some more towels (oversized ones even!), some cooling racks, and the new Rascal Flatts CD. Good times!

This weekend

Well Doug and I met with our fertility doctor Friday, and he basically told us that in order to get pregnant, we'll need to do IVF, which sucks becuase that's going to be about $11,000. He said any kind of insemination wouldn't work, so we have been thinking about that a lot this weekend. We decided to get a second opinion, so we'll see what happens there.
Last night, Doug and I hung out with our good friends and next door neighbors, Mike and Nicole. They're our age and they don't have kids either, so we have a lot of fun with them. We went out for thai food, which Doug and I had never had before. I didn't think it was too bad, and Doug thought it was a nice break from the norm. Then we decided to watch a scary movie, and since Mike and Nicole had never seen The Ring, we just watched that. Doug and I came home and changed into some sweats and walked over. Nicole was so funny, she kept covering her eyes during the scary parts.

Today, Doug and I got new cell phones since our contract is up next month, and since our current phones were pretty shot. I'll have to get a picture of us with them since I know you all are SO curious about that. A couple days ago it was over 80 degrees, and today it was actually snowing! It only snowed here for a couple minutes, but it has been raining for like the last 24 hours. We did a lot of shopping today for a birthday present for me, but even though I had a list, I couldn't find anything that I liked. Isn't that always how it goes? I decided that I want to finish my living room, so we're looking for floor lamps and a video cabinet. Let me know if you have any good ideas on the cabinet. We finally got exhausted and went to Tsunami for some sushi. Yum! Now we're just back hanging out. His friend Matt and his wife Christy are coming over for dinner tomorrow night, so that will be fun since we haven't seen them in a couple months. So nothing too exciting, but thought I'd still give an update!

Backyard

We were finally able to put in most of our backyard this weekend! Doug did the sprinklers a few weeks ago, and our neighbor helped us put in our sod last Thursday. Okay, more like our neighbor put it in himself. I tried to help, but after like 10 pieces, I ran out of strength. Doug got home from work just in time to help with the last row or 2. Then yesterday, we went to a nursery and planted some tulips and clematis. You can't see the tulips, but those purple flowers are the clematis.

Labor Day weekend

Well this weekend was pretty bittersweet. For those of you who haven't heard yet, we found out that my sister, Eliza, was diagnosed with breast cancer. Doug and I were glad we were able to go out to Colorado for Labor Day weekend and spend some time with the family during this difficult time. Most of the pictures we took were of Eliza and Jon's family, so feel free to view all the pictures here. Also, if you're interested in following Eliza's road to recovery, feel free to follow her blog here. I'm also adding her blog to my links. We were able to see Heather's new house, and see Brandy with a pregnant belly. She looks so cute! My cousin Katie drove out there with us, and she and my aunt Holly drove back with us. Hopefully I can go out and spend about a month with Eliza and her kids and help out when it's truly needed. Hope everyone is doing well and please keep Eliza and our family in your prayers.
