We finally got a decent offer on our house last Thursday night, only about 28 days after we put it up for sale. We counter offered for a little more, and asked that we close on September 1st instead of mid-September, and they accepted. We also threw our fridge into the deal so we didn't have to pay their closing costs, so we'll need to buy a new one of those. But it's SUCH a relief that it's sold, and we don't have to worry about two mortgages in the future.

We did a walk-through on our new house last Thursday, and there were a few things that they needed to fix still (i.e. the fireplace wasn't working, the mantle wasn't installed yet, some paint touch ups here and there, etc.) They were pushing us to close on July 31st (I know, TOMORROW), but we weren't quite ready, so we're asking to close on August 6th. In our contract, we had an addendum that said we didn't have to close until August 15th, so that should work out better for us. We'll close on the 6th, and move in the next weekend. It will be SUCH a relief when we're in the house and unpacked, there will be so much less to worry about. We can also start buying our big baby items, like a crib and car seat. We're not too excited about having to install a front AND back yard, but we can go one fall and winter with just dirt, right? We should be all set to start next spring.

I'm now 23 1/2 weeks along, and, according to my OB, have only gained 3 lbs. since my 8 week appointment! I am trying SO hard to gain more weight, and I know I've been eating like a heffer, so that's a little frustrating. I hope the baby stays healthy with me not gaining much weight. Also, I've started getting braxton hicks contractions. Fun stuff! They're not too bad, just a little uncomfortable, and I only get one or two a day (that I feel, anyway.) This little guy seems to get really active now, too! It's pretty cool to see and feel all of his movements. I felt him in the middle of the night last night, and he felt like he was trying to break free! I couldn't believe how much he was moving, it was pretty crazy.
Doug's birthday was Friday, we spent the afternoon at Gateway, just walking around down there for awhile. He picked out a golf shirt at Dick's Sporting Goods, and got a TON of golf stuff from his family (golf bag, golf balls, golf glove, golf coin, golf shoes, and club covers.) He's all set, except for some new clubs! He's recently gotten a lot more into golf, so this will be good for him. After Dick's Sporting Goods, we went to Happy Sumo for some edamame and sushi, yummy!

I was SO tired that night, so we rented The Queen (I thought it was kinda boring), and fell asleep at 8:30. Sorry about that one, Doug! Saturday, we had his family over for a barbeque.

Pregnancy pictures

P.S. If you don't mind sending me pictures of you throughout your pregnancy, and telling me how many weeks along you were, I'd LOVE to put them in "My Pictures" to compare all the different sizes women are at the same stages. I'm finding this interesting, the more I see my friend's pregnant pictures!

22 Weeks

I guess it's been awhile since I posted. I appreciate the comments you last people left, those absolutely make my day! It also shows that people are actually reading this. I write it for me partly, anyway.

Gol, you would think at 5 months, I'd be showing a little bit more. At least I have some sort of a pooch now. The OB's nurse told me at my appointment Monday that I should start to really pop at 24 or 25 weeks, so... we'll see. At least I fit into some of my maternity clothes now, right? I got this shirt from Old Navy in grey, washed it, and it shrunk to like half the size. I took it back to exchange it, but the only color they had then was black, so I got that. I wore it here, then washed it, and the same thing happened again. I hope they take it back again, I can't wear a shirt that doesn't even cover my belly!
Our house has been up for sale for about 2 1/2 weeks now, and we've had about a dozen people come see it. We had our first offer on it last night! They were low-balling us, so we did a counter-offer tonight on Doug's dinner break, since he worked 9-9 today. The buyer's agent is really pushing for less than the asking price, so it may not work. That's fine though, they're in a huge rush to move in, and we want to make sure we aren't homeless between moves. I'll let you know if it works out.
We went and registered at Babies 'R' Us this weekend, and that was a lot of fun. It was also overwhelming to see how many things babies needs, sheesh! I'm sure we don't need it all, but I didn't realize how much they cost OUT of the hospital. I guess it was good to open my eyes to it. I bought some super cute clothes from The Children's Place last week as well, during their monster sale. I got 6 things for under $23, how awesome is that?

We also bought the crib bedding we want to use. We looked a few months ago, and found a few places that had airplane bedding, and that was our favorite. Well, of course, now that we go to buy some, Pottery Barn Kids was the only place that had it, so we only bought part of it, the bumper and quilt. We bought the sheets too, since they weren't too much. The bumper and quilt came today, and I'm really happy with how they look. They match the chair we got perfectly.

Boring Weekend

Doug and I were still getting over being sick this weekend, so we spent most of the weekend on the couch, when we could. We recently put our house up on the market because they're building a major highway right next to us. We want to get out of it while it's still worth something. It's been up for sale for about a week and a half now, and we've shown it about 7 times now. No offers yet! Also, we found a new place that we both fell in love with in Draper. This isn't the exact house, but it's the same model to give you an idea.

We're hoping to move in before Labor Day, when my sisters and their families will be here, so that's the goal. Because of that, we probably won't be buying a lot of big baby stuff before then (like a crib, car seat, etc.), so we don't have to move it with us. We'll sure be busy with that once we move in!
So I'm excited to announce that I'm finally starting to fit into my maternity clothes! I'm really glad about that because none of my regular pants fit me anymore. We went to Old Navy this weekend, and I stocked up on some maternity clothes. I spent a lot, but I guess you have to when nothing you own fits you anymore. We also bought a couple boy outfits because it was the day after we found out, and we were so excited.

It's a boy!

We found out this morning at our ultrasound appointment that we're having a boy! He wasn't cooperating at first, so the ultrasonographer tried moving him a bit by pushing on my stomach. All of a sudden, she's like, "Oh, there it is! You're having a boy!"

It's great to finally know the sex so we're not going back and forth all the time. We managed to break the tradition on my side of the family of having the grandchildren come girl, boy, girl, boy. This is the second boy in a row after 10 other grandchildren. My neighbor also tried some voodoo thing on me where it's supposed to tell you what you're having, and that said a girl, too.

Doug and I are home again sick today. We can't seem to shake being sick! We both got sick on Sunday from Mexico, and it hasn't left us yet. Hopefully soon, it's getting really annoying.
