It's a hard-knock life

I can't wait until the days when I feel normal again! I felt pretty crappy all weekend. Doug and I went grocery shopping Friday after I got off, and then we just hung out at home the rest of the night. I fell asleep before 10 on both Friday and Saturday night. On Saturday, my friend Taryn and I went to Jessica's bridal shower. We all work together, so it was lots of fun!

I came home, and Doug and I made a CostCo run. Nothing sounded good to me for dinner, so we just came home and ordered pizza. It didn't hit the spot, but whatever.
I had to lay down all day on Sunday, I just wasn't up to doing anything! Poor Doug, I think he needs someone else to take the place of waiting on me for awhile. Any takers? :) We had Brady and Rachel over for dinner, I made flank steak with my mom's famous marinade. Yum! I also made rolls, and Doug helped me out by making baked potatoes. Rachel brought salad, and dessert. We had brownies with ice cream and fudge, and strawberries. Nice work, Rach!
Today I'm just working from home again, since I have no meetings at work. Check out what Buddy does when I work from home, cute critter!

Doug got employee of the week at work this week, so he gets to drive the company car all week, he's so excited! I'm excited to see it, we'll see it today!
And happy birthday Heather, love you!

Finally, some decent days!

Yesterday was actually productive at work, probably because I felt halfway decent! I can't tell if it's getting better, or if I'm just helping it out. The last two mornings, I've had an orange for breakfast, and still felt okay afterwards. Last night, Doug and I went to Chili's since he had a long dinner break before he had to go back to work. I went to Hallmark and bought a new candle for the house, Mango Blossom. Yummy! I spent the rest of the night watching Friends episodes. I had meetings all day today, starting at 9:30, no joke. I didn't end up leaving work until 4:45. I had a one-on-one with my boss today, where I asked if it was okay to just work from home when I don't have meetings scheduled. I'm lucky she's okay with me doing that. We had some guests from backcountry.com come visit us to see how our click-to-chat works. Since I'm in charge of chat, I showed them how we use it, then gave them a tour of the building. I got home and laid down for awhile until Doug got home with dinner. He brought KFC since I was craving mashed potatoes again. I must say, they're nothing compared to the real thing. I've been lucky enough to just lay down the rest of the night tonight, watching TV. Doug's watching the Jazz playoffs downstairs, and I'm up here watching The Office and Grey's Anatomy. They're both over now, so I'll probably get ready for bed, I'm exhausted. I'm 10 weeks tomorrow, woo hoo! Hopefully this sickness leaves me soon.

Another bum weekend

Well the weekend went just as I had predicted, pretty lazy and didn't get much done. On Friday, Doug took me out to Cafe Rio. It's too bad I could only eat half of mine. It was so nice to eat real food without having to cook anything. It's times like this I wish I lived close to my family. Mom, I could have really used some of your home cooking over here this weekend! Saturday was uneventful, with me staying in bed as long as I possibly could. Ahh, it felt so nice though. Doug made some yummy muffins for breakfast. Then we went and saw Disturbia as a matinee, which turned out to be a pretty entertaining movie. We spent the rest of the day at home. I was so hungry for mashed potatoes and gravy around 6. Since that's not really something you can run out and get, I had to make some. I made so many that we had a plate full each. Sunday was the same story... in bed all morning, mashed potatoes and gravy leftovers for lunch, sacrament meeting, and back home for more rest.
I worked from home yesterday, which I feel bad doing so often, but I get a lot more done laying in bed than I do suffering at work. And the new owners of our Honda came to pick that up yesterday, also. It's nice to just have the money and not worry about three cars. I made it to work this morning, but only until lunch. I had to work from home the rest of the day. Hopefully I feel well the next couple days because I have a lot of meetings tomorrow, and I have a presentation for another company on Thursday afternoon.

First OB visit

Yesterday was our first OB visit. Things went smoothly, and just lots of testing and questions all around. She even gave me a bag of goodies when I left! It had a few magazines (Fit Pregnancy, American Baby, and one other), a magazine "From Conception to Birth" where it shows what your baby looks like in different stages, a Babies 'R' Us magazine, a few different prenatal pills, and a pregnancy planner. Sweet stuff! Afterwards, Doug and I stopped at Subway for lunch, and I worked from home the rest of the day while he went back to work. I stopped by Wendy's before working because our neighbor's son got his wisdom teeth pulled, and I thought he might like one. Michelle (his mom) was grateful, she said she didn't even think about having food in the house like jell-o or anything ready for him when they got home. My friend, Melinda, came over around 4, and we went to Home Depot to look at paint samples for her kitchen. Her cousin passed away in a car crash, with her three kids, and it helped to get her mind off things. I hope it helped, Melinda, I'm praying for you and your family!
I read that the baby is as big as a grape right now, just under an inch long. I'm at 9 weeks, so hopefully only a couple more weeks of this morning sickness. You all say it will end, but I don't believe you. My house is a disaster, I'm completely out of shape, I never feel up to cooking anymore, and all I want to do in the morning is lay in bed all day. Man, this better not last the whole time!
No super fun weekend plans as of now. We're hoping to sell our Honda tonight (we have two people coming to look at it), and if I feel up to it, clean my house.

Virginia Tech news

In lieu of the news about Virginia Tech, I thought it would do us all some good to listen to the words of this Black Eyed Peas song. The lyrics are listed below.

What's wrong with the world, mama
People livin' like they ain't got no mamas
I think the whole world addicted to the drama
Only attracted to things that'll bring you trauma
Overseas, yeah, we try to stop terrorism
But we still got terrorists here livin'
In the USA, the big CIA
The Bloods and The Crips and the KKK
But if you only have love for your own race
Then you only leave space to discriminate
And to discriminate only generates hate
And when you hate then you're bound to get irate, yeah
Madness is what you demonstrate
And that's exactly how anger works and operates
Man, you gotta have love just to set it straight
Take control of your mind and meditate
Let your soul gravitate to the love, y'all, y'all

People killin', people dyin'
Children hurt and you hear them cryin'
Can you practice what you preach
And would you turn the other cheek

Father, Father, Father help us
Send some guidance from above
'Cause people got me, got me questionin'
Where is the love (Love)

Where is the love (The love)
Where is the love (The love)
Where is the love
The love, the love

It just ain't the same, always unchanged
New days are strange, is the world insane
If love and peace is so strong
Why are there pieces of love that don't belong
Nations droppin' bombs
Chemical gasses fillin' lungs of little ones
With ongoin' sufferin' as the youth die young
So ask yourself is the lovin' really gone
So I could ask myself really what is goin' wrong
In this world that we livin' in people keep on givin'
in
Makin' wrong decisions, only visions of them dividends
Not respectin' each other, deny thy brother
A war is goin' on but the reason's undercover
The truth is kept secret, it's swept under the rug
If you never know truth then you never know love
Where's the love, y'all, come on (I don't know)
Where's the truth, y'all, come on (I don't know)
Where's the love, y'all

People killin', people dyin'
Children hurt and you hear them cryin'
Can you practice what you preach
And would you turn the other cheek

Father, Father, Father help us
Send some guidance from above
'Cause people got me, got me questionin'
Where is the love (Love)

Where is the love (The love)
Where is the love (The love)
Where is the love (The love)
Where is the love (The love)
Where is the love, the love, the love?

I feel the weight of the world on my shoulder
As I'm gettin' older, y'all, people gets colder
Most of us only care about money makin'
Selfishness got us followin' our wrong direction
Wrong information always shown by the media
Negative images is the main criteria
Infecting the young minds faster than bacteria
Kids wanna act like what they see in the cinema
Yo', whatever happened to the values of humanity
Whatever happened to the fairness in equality
Instead of spreading love we're spreading animosity
Lack of understanding, leading lives away from unity
That's the reason why sometimes I'm feelin' under
That's the reason why sometimes I'm feelin' down
There's no wonder why sometimes I'm feelin' under
Gotta keep my faith alive till love is found
Now ask yourself

Where is the love?
Where is the love?
Where is the love?
Where is the love?

Father, Father, Father help us
Send some guidance from above
'Cause people got me, got me questionin'
Where is the love?

Sing wit me y'all:
One world, one world (We only got)
One world, one world (That's all we got)
One world, one world
And something's wrong wit it (Yeah)
Something's wrong wit it (Yeah)
Something's wrong wit the wo-wo-world, yeah
We only got
(One world, one world)
That's all we got
(One world, one world)

I love you guys!

Gardening weekend

Our neighbors, Mike and Nicole, had us over for dinner Thursday night for some lasagna, salad, and french bread. We all like watching The Office and Grey's Anatomy on Thursday nights. Unfortunately, Grey's wasn't new. But we still watched The Office. They recently finished their basement and just got their new couch, so we hung out down there to watch it.
I ended up only working like 2 hours on Friday, I felt so lazy. I woke up feeling somewhat okay, and just didn't want it to end by getting out of bed and getting ready for the day. It also didn't help that Doug doesn't work on Friday's, that made me want to stay home even more. I had a meeting at 2:30 with my boss, so I went in at 2 to prepare for it. Turns out, she didn't show up for it, so I was a little annoyed I even went in. We didn't get to buying new clothes this weekend for me, so it looks like I'll just have to wear my pants unbuttoned this week. Can you tell they're unbuttoned in this picture? It doesn't even look like a pooch has formed, but I can certainly tell when I put on clothes.

Doug and I went out for dinner Friday night at Tepanyaki, a Japanese steakhouse. It's a little expensive, and they're huge servings, so we always share a plate. We came home and watched Red Eye, and some home videos from Lake Powell two years ago. Man, my hair was so short!
Saturday, I lied down in bed until 11, and Doug said he was going to get his hair cut. I made it out of bed to go with him and took Buddy to Petsmart while his hair was getting cut. We then went to Home Depot and got a new pot for the corner of the yard, and some flowers to plant.

Hopefully we'll be able to enjoy SOME of them this summer. We're trying to sell our Honda since we just bought Doug's uncle's car, so we met a couple people about that this weekend. We haven't sold it yet, but hopefully soon. We went to Park City with our friends Brady and Rachel last night to this mexican restaurant called La Casita. It was pretty good. I literlly only had two bites of mine because I wasn't feeling well. I felt bad because they paid for a lot of dinner with a gift card they had. Then we went back to their house and watched this Jim Gaffigan comedy DVD. It was funny, but my contacts were so ready to come out, I had to close my eyes, and ended up falling asleep. I know, I'm a ton of fun to hang out with these days. Sorry, Rachel!

Happy Easter!

The weekend was pretty slow, but that was totally fine by me. The more I lay down and relax, the less sick I feel. I spent Saturday morning in bed watching Mr. Holland's Opus (which, by the way, I cried at like 4 different parts, no joke), then got out of bed and did some gardening in the backyard. Some of the tulips I planted in the fall are blooming, so that was exciting! We also planted a few other things, so we won't see that bloom for awhile. I still have more room to plant stuff, so I bought some other plants when we went out to Wal-Mart, and will plant those later. We went out to Chili's at like 5 Saturday night because I was hungry already, and their steak fajitas really hit the spot!
Doug's sister, Cassidy, and her husband, Bryce, stopped by Sunday evening after church and dyed some Easter eggs with us.

Doug's mom and brothers were out of town, so it was just the two of us this year. We relaxed during the day, had church from 1-4, then came home and had spaghetti with marinara and chicken, a salad, and french bread. I wished I could have seen my family, but oh well. I'll see you guys in May!
We had our first ultrasound today with the fertility doctor, it was so amazing! I thought I'd be more emotional, but I found it more fascinating than anything. We got to see its little heart beat and everything. The doctor took a picture, but it's pretty bad. There were times when I could see where the head and limbs were, but the doctor just took a picture where you can't tell what anything is. I thought I'd post it anyway, though.

We're officially done with the fertility doctor, I gave them a thank you card just because they helped us make our dreams come true. My first appointment with my OB is a week from Thursday, so I may have another ultrasound picture to post again soon. How exciting!

The joys of pregnancy

Wow, morning sickness sucks. I have felt the m/s every day for the past week, but still haven't thrown up. It has lasted all day once or twice, so I'm trying to get this down to a science... what makes me feel better? Worse?
Fatigue: Yes, I actually fell asleep in a meeting at work on Monday. It was only for like 30 seconds or whatever, and nobody saw me, so that's good. Plus I've been going to bed like an hour earlier each night, so I think that helps with that.
Cravings: I don't seem to have too bad of cravings unless I hear someone mention a food that sounds good. For instance, did you guys hear the talk from general conference from David Bednar about pickles? I totally craved pickles after that. And someone mentioned Subway here on Tuesday, and I absolutely had to have it for lunch that day.
Aversions: I have smelled a few foods that make me queasy, but I don't know exactly what they are. I smell them when I walk through the cafeteria at work, but don't know which foods I'm smelling.
My belly: Wow, my pants are already starting to be a little tight, and I'm only 7 weeks today! I have read in my book that that's normal, and it could be either because I'm just starting to show early, or because of other things that I won't mention.
Weepiness: Wow, I may not be able to Tivo Oprah anymore, I'm crying more than her audience these days! Good thing nobody's around to see it.

On other topics, we saw Blades of Glory this weekend with our friends Brady and Rachel. It had a lot of crude humor, which I don't like, but besides that, it was funny. Doug and Brady went to conference together Saturday night, while Rachel and I picked up Winger's for all of us, and went to Best Buy and Bed, Bath & Beyond. We saw a duck in a parked Jeep at Best Buy, you don't see that every day!

Tuesday, Rachel came over and we had pizza and watched Just Married, one of my favorite movies. Brady and Doug both worked late Tuesday night, so we decided to hang out. They're probably sick of us by now. Only 5 more days until our first ultrasound, I'm so excited! We'll get to hear the heartbeat, and find out how many babies we're having. I think it's just one, but everyone keeps telling me there's more than one in there, because we used fertility drugs. The odds of multiples are only 20-25%, but I guess that's about the same odds we had of getting pregnant with IUI. We'll see what happens, I'll keep you posted!
